Richard Baer is a well-known American playwright. His plays have been staged on Broadway, and films have been made based on them. The play “Mixed Feelings” tells the story of two elderly, lonely people. She has lost her husband, he has lost his wife. In the past, they were friends as families, but now they are alone. As a famous song says, “two lonely souls simply met…”.
They want to rediscover the taste of life. Throughout the performance, the characters quarrel and reconcile, recall their deceased spouses, and gradually come to understand that they need each other.
The performance “Mixed Feelings” is humane and slightly sentimental. It is about love and about the fact that at any age a person needs to feel understood, needed, and not alone. The play is full of humor, yet at the same time evokes a sense of gentle sadness.
