Canadian novelist Lucy Maud Montgomery\'s novel «Anne of the Island», published in 1915, presents to the Armenian reader the new story of the life of Anne Shirley, a red-haired and dreamy girl who has long been known («Anne of Green Gables», «Anne of Avonlea»). Anne is already a student and is learning life lessons along with her university education. She also performs literary experiments, where, as everywhere, joy and disappointment follow each other. The girl suffers from a violent collision of dreams and reality. She goes through the sad paths of childhood, experiences the pain caused by the loss of a classmate and discovers the pains of true love. Still, Anne holds on to her pure dreams and ultimately finds the most important thing of all: faithful and pure love.
